| Free vegetarian restaurant in Malaysia? Couple of years ago i was travelling in Malaysia and we founded free vegetarian restaurant(cant remember the name) from Melaka. Owner of that place was a local businessman who said that he has got so much from the world already to himself that now its his time to give something back. That time there was only this one place, but he was planning to open same kind of places all over Malaysia... So my question is that does anybody now is this place still in Melaka and are there other same kind of restaurants in Malaysia?? Post Date: 04/09/08, Replies: 2 | ||
| Puerto Vallarta MX Health Food Stores Does anyone know if there are any health food stores in PV? Can one get items like almond milk or soy milk, organic produce and juices, etc. in the supermarkets? I see some restaurants posted on the site, but will be vacationing for a week and will have a kitchen so would like to not eat in restaurants all the time. Thanks for any help! | Vegetarian Tunisia Hello! I have just registered on the Happy Cow, but for a long time I've been referring to the site when travelling. Have any of you been to Tunisia? We are maybe going there. My family is lifestyle ovo-lacto vegetarian, and we sometimes eat fish, so I would like to know if the Tunisian restaurant dishes are vegetarian-friendly, as they are in many mediterranean countries? Or, if you have been there, do you have any absolute cuisine favorites there to share? Thanks, Jaakko Karrot Helsinki Post Date: 06/09/08, Replies: 2 | ||
| Pamela Anderson's favorite LA eateries +Pam Anderson's favorite L.A. vegan food+ Pamela Anderson is known worldwide for her tireless fight to end animal cruelty via her work with groups like PETA. Naturally, she is vegan. Anderson is also an avowed lover of Los Angeles, so we thought it might be interesting to see where the actress is eating out these days (or at least sending out her assistant to grab something for her). Look for more clues about where Anderson eats (and plays) in her forthcoming reality show for E! Networks, entitled "Pam: Girl on the Loose." The series premieres Sunday, August 3 on E! Eating vegan works for Pam, maybe it'll work for others. Here is one way to get the body that Pam built. From Anderson: "Aside from keeping up with my kids, I don't exercise much, so I credit my veggie diet for my good health. Los Angeles is the easiest place in the world to eat vegan. A lot of people know about the great meatless entrees at Real Food Daily and Newsroom Cafe, but there are some other places that have very unique menus." See Anderson's less-than-obvious vegan restaurant choices in L.A. below: 1. Flore Vegan Cuisine - Silver Lake / Echo Park http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=11631 You've never - even when you ate meat - eaten a Rueben sandwich as rich and yummy as the one Flore cooks up. 2. Madeline Bistro - Tarzana http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=5279 Beet tartare to beat the band and you don't have to like beets! And vegan chocolate soufflé. 3. Astro Burger - Hollywood http://www.astroburger.com/ If you are a fast food junkie you can always count on the Astro Burger on Melrose near Paramount Studios for veggie chili dogs and soy chicken fajitas. 4. Pure Luck - East Hollywood (Thai Town) http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=12016 Fried pickles, vegan sloppy joes and BBQ sandwiches. And they cook with jack fruit, which is an amazing fruit they use to make the mock meat tangy. | Vegan food in Disneyland Paris Has anyone had vegan food in Disneyland Paris? I am going in March and contacted their customer services department who sent back a brochure of specially prepared meals all containing meat!! I've been to Disneyworld and had no problems and found the catering staff very helpful and was hoping Paris would be the same! Post Date: 09/12/10, Replies: 2 | ||
| Both Vegan and 'omni' in Ptd? I hate to even put this out there but entertaining the in-laws who are staunchly anti-veg. Thus I need to know places that are veg-friendly that would be good for me (vegan) and them. I only have been to the vegan places in Ptd, since I have that luxury I suppose and have not eaten w them in the past. It looks less of an option this time around to dine sep from them. So if anyone knows of a nice place that has more than a crappy boca burger cooked in bacon, but nice, poss upscale that caters to both realistically, please let me know. If you don't want to word up a place here in the forum (I don't blame you ~ I'm the last one who wants to word up meat places), drop me a pm. Its short notice too, so the sooner the better... thanks in advance. Post Date: 10/27/09, Replies: 2 | ||
| Zoo Negara My friend just emailed me a link to PETA's website containing an article about the cruelty that occurs at Zoo Negara in Malaysia. www.petaasiapacific.com/feature-zoo-negara.asp I'm traveling to Malaysia at the end of the year and of course I had planned to check out all of the tourist hotspots including this zoo. After reading this article I have definitely rethought my holiday plans. Elephants are such beautiful creatures and should NOT be chained up, which deprives them of being free to roam and socialize. If you visit this Zoo, you are supporting cruelty towards animals. Please join me in Boycotting the Negara Zoo, as all creatures deserve a natural life, free of cruelty Post Date: 11/06/09, Replies: 2 | ||

| Cascadian Independent Vegan Travel group? Hello All! I'm contemplating starting a new group for folks interested in Cascadian Independent Vegan Travel. We would organize things ourselves, be low-budget focused. Loding would focus on utilizing camping, hostels, couchsurfing & similar options with transportation primarily being public transit &/or ridesharing. It would be open to non-vegan's provided they ate vegan when we were together. Travel would be either in the Cascadia region or with folks coming from here traveling together to other areas and could be both focused on natural areas and cities/towns. Local and day trips and activities would be included. That's my vision - what do ya'll think? ps. In case you are not familiar with where/what Cascadia is, have a peek here: http://www.en.wikipedia.org /wiki/File:Cascadia_extreme.jpg Post Date: 01/26/10, Replies: 2 | ||
| An open invitation to visit me! While I love to travel, I do not do so nearly as often as I'd like to. I've found that almost as nice as traveling myself is to play host and/or tour-guide to cool travelers coming to my area. I know that for me, meeting cool local folks and having them show me what they love about their area is always a highlight of my journeys, so I want to do the same for any of you coming my way. I live in Portland, Oregon, USA. This is a city in the region I like to call Cascadia (basically the US Northwest and Canadian South West) which has many wonderful, extremely vegan-friendly cities and towns. Cascadia also has amazingly beautiful natural areas: ancient forests, snow-capped mountains, raging rivers, islands of many sizes and of course the Pacific Ocean. You can generally travel quite inexpensively in Cascadia and our public transportation systems are convenient and extensive. I have traveled throughout much of the region and am fairly familiar with all of the larger cities as well as many smaller cities and towns and a good number of the natural areas. As for me, I have a wide variety of interests that generally center around travel, being outdoors and eating tasty, healthy (and of course vegan) food. I've met several folks from HappyCow in person already and would greatly enjoy meeting many more of you as time goes on! While I can rarely travel extensively, I am quite often able to free up an afternoon, day or weekend to visit and show you around Portland and other parts of Cascadia! Even if we can't meet up I am happy to answer questions and offer suggestions! Post Date: 05/08/11, Replies: 2 | ||
| Vegan in Buenos Aires Hi, I'm a vegan currently on a year abroad as part of my university course here (I know lol). Foodwise I'm doing ok so far, but does anyone know where I can buy vegan toiletries? Things like shampoo, soap, toothpaste and make up. Also does anyone know any vegan brands of red wine that are available here? I know this is a long shot but thanks in advance for any replies. Post Date: 10/13/11, Replies: 2 | ||
| Trericket Mill Veggie B&B The Wye Valley Recently stayed a couple of nights at Trericket Mill, a vegetarian b & b plus a bunkhouse and campsite in the Wye Valley mid wales. The b and b is in a beautifully restored mill (grade 2 star listed). The bunkhouse and campsite are situated in an old cider orchard close by the b and b. Trericket Mill is a marvelous b and b, gorgeous building and location, wonderful hosts and fabulous veggie and vegan evening meals available to staying guests (in b and b, as well as in the bunkhouse and campsite, subject to space in their dining room) The breakfasts are great too! My vegan evening meal was absolutely delicious. There's loads to do in nearby areas, canoeing, sightseeing, walking, climbing etc, Hereford and the bookshop town of Hay on Wye. Highly recommended. http://www.trericket.co.uk/index.html Post Date: 05/08/11, Replies: 2 | ||

| A Vegan in Paris...with her Non-Vegan BF Help! For my boyfriends birthday he decided to take us to Paris. He currently works as a Baker & previous to this as a Chef, so is very excited about trying French Cuisine and Patisseries. Myself on the other hand am worried I wont be eating for 4 days! I have researched & found some Vegan Cafes, however as its my boyfriends birthday trip & he eats meat I feel reluctant to make him go to purely Vegan places for me. Has anyone had any previous experiences? Ive read online that places are reluctant to alter dishes. What about people Lactose-Intollerances? Would appreciate any suggestions- we go on the 22/08/13, so not long!! Post Date: 03/09/14, Replies: 2 | ||
