Vegetarian in Tonga - advice please! Are there any vegos out there who have spent time in Tonga/Samoa/Cook islands etc? I'm going to Tonga for 2 weeks, specifically to Vava'u, which is an isolated group of islands in the north. Does anyone have some advice for being vegetarian while I am there? I know the south pacific islands diet is based heavily on seafood, and also sometimes chicken and pork. They also have plenty of coconuts, papaya, plaintain, bananas, sweet potatos. I want to have a healthy diet while I am there (and not just eat potatoes!), so any advice on recipes, or tips on what to take (bearing in mind I have a 20kg luggage limit) would be much appreciated. Thanks! Post Date: 11/10/09, Replies: 5
Vegan in Atlanta My mother, husband and I will be staying in Atlanta, Georgia for two weeks next summer and I am wondering if there are any restaurants we should NOT miss while we are there. Or should I just plan on doing a lot of food prep during my vacation... :( Thanks Post Date: 01/01/10, Replies: 5
Berlin I went to Berlin, because I was invited by my dad to come for 10 days. He lives in another part of Germany so I was at cafes and restaurants. I was surprised at how few vegetarian dishes most places lacked. I am a vegan, but had to eat mostly vegetarian, because I need to eat something. I'm not asking for places that are vegetarian, but your thoughts on what can be morally acceptable baring certain situations. Post Date: 10/25/10, Replies: 5
vegan in atlantis, paradise island i realize this website dismisses restaurants that serve meat, but my husband and i dined at mesa grill last week at atlantis in the bahamas and i wanted to pass this on. i told the server i was vegan and was served an outstanding dish prepared just for me by the chef. it was an incredible meal and i thought it would help to post this. GLASGOW, UK. VERY VEGAN FRIENDLY I was a bit disappointed to see that Glasgow does not appear in the list of vegan friendly cities. We have at least 6 totally vegan cafes and various vegetarian eateries that have good vegan alternatives. It's certainly one of the best cities for vegans in Europe I would say. Best vegan places in Bangkok? Hi everyone! I just over a week I'm going to Bangkok for a few days, and I feel quite lost looking at the amount of vegetarian and vegan restaurants listed on this site! I'm not used to there being so many. Can you help me pick out a few, preferably ones easy to find and close to places I might want to visit? Thanks! Post Date: 11/02/14, Replies: 5
Vegetarianism in France? Hiya, I'm going to France in June (Paris) with my school, is it possible to last 4 days in France as a vegetarian? Also how will I persuade teachers that I'll be fine? They don't know yet but my mum is worried that I'll starve, so the teachers might think so too! Thank you =D Post Date: 06/14/15, Replies: 5

Universal CityWalk Orlando, FL So my boyfriend and I are going down to Orlando for the 4th of July weekend to see my family--and also to celebrate my b-day a couple of weeks early. We'll be going to CityWalk on Thursday July 3, and I was checking out the restaurants, and it seems the Bob Marley restaurant might have an option or so. Does anyone know if their Ital dish is vegan? Or if there are other good vegan options there? I refuse to eat at a place that serves foie gras, even if they have options for me, so Emeril's is OUT. Thanks! Post Date: 06/21/11, Replies: 4

Vegan Volunteering in India I'm so happy to share my experience as a vegan volunteer in India. I'm a 24-year-old vegan working in Sadhana Forest, India, a strictly and compassionately vegan volunteer community. I've looked all over the world for a place like this, so I'm trying to spread the word to my fellow veggies. Please come visit! It's honestly a vegan dream come true. We're looking for vegans!, tree-planters, vegan food-preparers, unschooling leaders, yogis, meditators, compost know-it-alls, permaculturalists, animal lovers, people-persons, and generally happy travelers looking for a place to volunteer to help us with our reforestation efforts. We're trying to replant 70 acres with an endangered dry evergreen forest. We offer free accommodation for our volunteers! The food is organic and fresh, and the electricity is solar-powered. You can read my review of it by looking for Sadhana Forest under Pondicherry, India. For more information, please see our website: www.sadhanaforest.org I sincerely hope to meet you soon :) Post Date: 11/27/12, Replies: 4
Vegans in Kyoto and a super tight budget Hi everyone, we are going to travel to Kyoto in a few weeks and we are on an extremely tight budget, meaning that we cannot spend more that 12 Euros per person on food every day. We are also very worried we won't find cheap vegan food, so it would be great to get recommendations from other travelers or vegans in kyoto. One thought we had was getting lunch at one of the cheap vegan cafes recommended here and elsewhere and have packed meals for breakfast and dinner and inbetween. How, the main problem we have: what vegan products can you get at the convenience store or the supermarket? We don't speak or read any Japanese, so things are naturally much more tricky. It would really help us if, e.g. someone would point out specific snacks that are vegan to us. We could just print out pictures of it and try to find it. And are there maybe some places in Kyoto where you find really, really cheap noodle dishes that are definitively vegan? thanks so much in advance! Post Date: 01/03/14, Replies: 4

Pleiku - Viet Nam - missing info - Hi Guys - I today discovered that I have lost a file containing all of my notes about / the business cards of the 5 vegan / veggie cafes which I recently discovered in Pleiku. The downside of this is that I cannot list them on HappyCow. The upside is that I will definitely have to go back there again very soon & revisit all of the places. If you know any of them please add them to HappyCow, or alternatively you could scan & email the details to me & I will add them. Thank you. John Post Date: 03/18/08, Replies: 3
Vegan honeymoon in the outerbanks...help!? Hi we are having our honeymoon in Nc and spending three days in the outerbanks region. We are staying at a B&B who will cater to vegans but we are wondering about lunch and dinner! We have only been told about the seaside vegetarian from happy cow but is there any veg friendly places besides that? We will travel a little bit so one hour away from Kitty Hawk is fine. Thank You! HongKongBliss - vegan dim-sum rediscovered Guys - today I took some time out from my work & went "walkabout" in Hong Kong Island for a few hours. Hong Kong is a very easy & convenient place to stay / thrive as a vegan. Every few blocks you see a well stocked fresh fruit stall. Every area has at least 1 Chinese vegetarian restaurant / cafe with the vast majority of dishes being vegan. In a few places we have 100% vegan restaurants either with gorgeous Buddhist altars at their centre / a few are located in the grounds of temples surrounded by flowering trees. Today's big bonus for me was walking through Hong Kong Park in the Admiralty District of Hong KOng Island & discovering that my favorite Chinese tea shop which serves only vegan dim-sum had reopened after having been closed for too many weeks. Their menu changes daily. I will submit the details to Eric tonight. It should be listed on the Hong Kong page within a few days. Search, visit & enjoy! Did you know that in hell unfortunate souls are able to drink unlimited amounts of fine teas - but they are forced to eat dim-sum made with cooked pieces of the bodies of tortured animals between sips! Help with bread/baked goods in Norway Does anyone know if there is a major concern for the use of lard or other animal fats in breads and other baked goods in Norway? My wife and I are going there in about a month and would like to know. We do eat dairy products. Post Date: 06/22/07, Replies: 3
Vegetarian in Indonesia and Singapore Hi there, I will be travelling to Singapore and Indonesia this summer and I was wondering if they are vegetarian friendly. I am not too worried about Singapore since it's a developed country and there should be a number of veggie choices for me there, but I am a little concerned about Indonesia. People have been telling me it's hard to find veggie food in Indonesia, and my family there is not vegetarian at all. In fact, I don't think they understand the concept of vegetarianism.. they say I am missing out because meat is so delicious. Will they have vegetarian options in Indonesia? Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Post Date: 10/17/09, Replies: 3
