'Update Review' Option I was thinking an 'Update Review' option would be a very useful thing to add to previous reviews. As I frequent restaurants my opinion may change about them. If I change my mind about a place I generally delete the prior review then post a new one. Not only is this process cumbersome, I feel that it's less useful. I feel that having the prior review along with the original review could be very useful, as we can see how HC members opinions change about establishments over time. What do you think Webmaster (and everyone else)? Post Date: 02/03/10, Replies: 4
"New" labels for cities Hello, I hope this hasn't already been mentioned, but I didn't see it. I was wondering if it was possible to put a "New" label on the cities where new restaurants have recently been added. I always keep coming back to the same cities to check for new additions and it would just make it a lot easier if it was labeled so I wouldn't have to click on each city if there's nothing new...Hope that makes sense... Thanks for everything you do!! You're awesome!!] ~Zira Post Date: 08/08/07, Replies: 2
"Stat's" page - natural growth - Thank you for the new "Stat's" page Mr. Eric - http://www.happycow.net/reports/happycow_stats.html It is inspiring to see new vegan eating places opening daily / getting listed / being updated / receiving reviews. HappyCow.net is growing so quickly & without any artificial growth hormones! Post Date: 09/21/08, Replies: 8
10,000th Review This morning when choosing where to go for dinner tonight I noticed that 10,009 reviews were already posted. That makes me happy! Post Date: 11/27/07, Replies: 7
A place for veggie stories Hi, I think it would be neat if there was one place where alot of us could post our experiences in dealing with meat eaters, and the lessons in life that we've learned over the years. I thinks its a good idea because many new members, and people new to veg*nism, enter the chatroom seeking difficult questions that cant always be answered in that setting. Sometimes they enter when the current conversation moves with its own momentun, and the question goes unheard. We try our best to help out, but it would be nice to have something more substantial to rely on. Not like a blog (where people just go to vent or ramble about thier problens), or a forum (where the topic tends to be evolve around each comment). What I have in mind is something simple and easy to find; in the topics link maybe. I can imagine quite a compilation of tales to beheld for those seeking to benefit for those looking advice and understanding among thoses who have been there. And maybe a few laughs anc be shared to, who knows. Anyway, thats my suggestion to help make Happy Cow a better place. Post Date: 05/25/12, Replies: 7
A suggestion for Happy Cow Sernicki gave me this idea, though he doesn't realise it (see Ser - I do pay attention) How about having a directory of Vegan trades people? Vegan plumbers, electricians, caterers that sort of thing. It would have to be broken down into categories for countries and states like the current directory for restaurants and health food shops is. Whaddya reckon? Post Date: 11/30/09, Replies: 8
Ability to rate and sort photos Would be nice to have a swipe up to like, down to dislike rating when browsing photos. Could then allow sorting options by rank/date posted. Could help surface higher quality pics to the top of photo results. Post Date: 06/01/15, Replies: 1
Add new places via iPhone app Would like a way of adding new restaurants, etc within the iPhone app. Can do this on apps like foursquare and gowalla. Post Date: 06/25/11, Replies: 0
Addition for Your List of Vegan Blogs You forgot an awesome, original restaurant review blog: Vegan Town USA vegantownusa.wordpress.com Vegan Town – to make your town more vegan-friendly by winning food prizes away from meat eaters and telling people about your vegan finds. Vegan Town USA is the flagship vegan town blog; originator of the “vegan town” term of art; copied incorrectly by UK vendor! Anyone is welcome to start a “vegan town” blog as long as they refrain from diluting the trademark. Post Date: 01/27/17, Replies: 0
Airport Food From - www.HealthNewsDigest.com Airport Food - until reading this today I had never thought about adding Airport restaurants! Now I will start to look out for places to add! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Food and Nutrition Author: Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Last Updated: Dec 11, 2007 - 3:33:18 PM ________________________________________ New Report on Airport Food for Holiday Travelers By Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Dec 11, 2007 - 3:20:08 PM Dallas, Chicago, and Detroit Top the List of Healthiest Airports, Survey Shows Washington National and Miami Lag Behind; Las Vegas Is Most Improved (HealthNewsDigest.com) - WASHINGTON — Holiday travelers should have no trouble finding a healthful meal in many of the nation's busiest airports, according to an annual report just released by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. PCRM nutritionists found that 82 percent of the restaurants surveyed offer at least one low-fat, cholesterol-free vegetarian entrée, making this the second year in a row with such a high score. The survey—now in its seventh year—examined food served at 15 of the busiest airports in the country. However, some airports are much better than others. If you're laying over in Dallas, Chicago, or Detroit, you'll have no trouble finding a healthful meal. If you're traveling through Washington or Miami, you'll have to look harder. "The biggest health issue for travelers is not air safety. It's the cholesterol-laden burgers, fried chicken, and battered fish sticks eaten during layovers that present a much greater long-term threat," says PCRM dietitian Susan Levin, M.S., R.D. More than 90 percent of the restaurants at Dallas, Detroit, and O'Hare airports offer a healthful option. The figure in Miami is 67 percent, and at Washington National is a dismal 42 percent. PCRM dietitians gave each restaurant a point if its menu included at least one low-fat, high-fiber, cholesterol-free vegetarian entrée. The final percentage score was derived by dividing the airport's number of restaurants serving health-conscious fare by its total number of restaurants. Airport Score Healthy Restaurants/Total Restaurants 1. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport 94% 89/95 2. (tie) Chicago O'Hare International Airport 93% 81/87 2. (tie) Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport 93% 56/60 3. (tie) Los Angeles International Airport 89% 50/56 3. (tie) Newark Liberty International Airport 89% 49/55 4. Animal Ingredients 2.0 The listing of animal ingredients here on Happy Cow is so helpful. To make my product purchasing a more conscience one, I copied the list, edited out the definitions, and formated it into a handy wallet feature. Now when i go grocery shopping, I consult my quick-list, and am able to shop worry free about ot knowing about what is really in my food. My suggestion is to feature a second animal ingredient list here on Happy Cow; one that is just the ingredients and is formated for easy printing. So that people like me, who dont always know what the technical terms for some of the animal ingredients are, can always have an easy to read list at hand. *Food for thought* Post Date: 09/09/10, Replies: 3
another suggestion for review page On a state page, it may be helpful to also have the filter that says both HF and cafes, or cafes only or HF only. If seeking a cafe on the road, it can help isolate more easily if seeking a cafe to eat rather than HF offerings. thanks Post Date: 10/04/08, Replies: 1
API for the website? Hi, I've written the "Gary bot", which runs on the www.reddit.com/r/vegan subreddit. He responds to common queries about veganism, so - for example - typing @Gary! Nutrition will return a list of websites talking about vegan nutrition. That's a long-winded introduction to my real question. A common question on /r/vegan is: "I'm visiting x city, where can I eat?" I'm hoping to add functionality to Gary, so that you can type: @Gary! London and he responds with the best vegan restaurants in London. I can maintain the responses manually, but it would be helpful if I could script Gary to query an API on HappyCow to get the results. That's a long-winded preamble to the actual question, which is: Is there currently an available API on HappyCow that I could use for this purpose? Thanks for any help you can give. All the best Matt Post Date: 02/10/17, Replies: 2

Blogging - traveling Africa plus, plus Guys - as you blog your travels please add HappyCow mentions whenever it is appropriate to - so that many more "bod's" know about HappyCow & start to add great eating places - there are still big holes in the site which can be quickly filled. I have a request today from a vegan friend who is heading for Sierra Leone, West Africa in December to do voluntary work for a year - I could find no single place to recommend to her. Not even a Seventh Day Adventist place. For the past couple of months I have been having fun listing / updating all of my favorite Hong Kong eating places - revisiting a few cafes which I last went to in the 80's. I estimate that there are still 30+ just in Hong Kong which can be included. Post Date: 12/01/07, Replies: 2
Boss's play roulette of under 18 workers I think i know now why my boss trash talked his employee's when i was dining where i ate w a friend ..it's cause he has good staff but doesn't call them to work ,and uses girls that won't speak up about getting the correct pay or even a consistant work schedule . I believe he is purposly throwing away 18 + year old workers & only keeping the one's that accept the rate of 10 bucks per hour . Long story short ,don't fall for nice owners of a business they probably also only go for the cheap staff even if their staff never mention pay .Even if their vegg friendly don't fall for the nicest bosses. Canadian Rant I am a newbe to this website and not sure if I'm even in the right spot for my little rant that follows. Apologies I have traveled a lot over the last 20 years, 10 of them as a vegetarian. As you all well know, restaurant menu offerings around this planet for vegetarians can be a bit meager at times (God bless the Vegans in this regard). I have become a bit tired of my choices in most restaurants being restricted to a veggie burger, pasta or a salad (if anything at all). In the same breath, in some unique places, I have come across some amazing and creative vegetarian foods from all parts of the world. I have often thought "If I could only bring this type of vegetarian food back home to Canada, people wouldn't care weather it was vegetarian". So I did, and my wife and I opened up a little restaurant not far from Queens University in Kingston Ontario to serve these great international vegetarian foods (that also cater to our vegan friends). So where am I going with all this. Since we have been open we have had some great customers pass through our doors who tell us they love the food ect. However, I was hoping that being close to a University like Queens, and it's a big school, that we would at least attract the veggie student population. That hasn't happened even after our best efforts to advertise as our little place is now hurting. We are the only vegetarian restaurant in town. What am I missing here as time is running out. Thanks Post Date: 09/06/08, Replies: 11
Captcha me I find the capcha-like system on each text submission quite an aggravation. It frequently fails and as we are already members I do not see the point. Post Date: 10/05/14, Replies: 1
Change Icon - Favourite List When you add an item to your favourite list, the green heart on the place's page should change so users know it's been marked as a one of their favourites. Maybe it should be a green heart outline and become a full green heart when added to favourites. Post Date: 11/07/16, Replies: 1

Classifieds Hi, how about a classifieds section? SOme folks might be looking for housemates, or some such thing where diet/lifestyle is important, and where ads in other places (like Craigslist, e.g,) are just a waste of time, and tend toward attracting scams and cons. combine both search boxes? on the main happycow.net page, there are two search boxes: one for "restaurant, region, city, state, region or country", one for "everything else". i question the need for two search boxes, especially when the first does not seem to be accurate. eg searching for "happy veggies" (either with or without quotes ) results in "Sorry, this location/business was not found, has been deleted, or you have entered an invalid URL." whereas the other gives me accurate listings, detailing all three happy veggies outlets in hong kong). such skewed results might put the casual user off and i wonder if there's any way to streamline both search boxes. Compassion or Vegetarian Hi everyone, We've recently changed the name of the site in the title graphic and would like your feedback. It used to read: Vegetarian Guide to Restaurants & Stores and now reads: Compassionate Eating Guide we've also considered: Compassionate Dining Guide How do these titles sound to you and which should we go with? Thanks for any thoughts on this. Post Date: 11/30/09, Replies: 7
