  • saving students from junk

The Melbourne Union building was privatised by a brainless student union a few years back, and now features corporate stalls like donut king in the food court. But upstairs, you'll find the co-op, which has been in operation for over 30 years. Hot foods are available with an array of pies, pastries and curries. There are many healthy bread rolls, and some amazing cakes and muffins. All products are vegan except one of the hot pies and three of the sweets. The co-op also offers gluten free pies, muffins and brownies! There is also a dry goods section where you can get your organic soy milks, lentils, syrups, free trade coffee and anything else you can think of. Even cruelty free washing up liquid! Membership is open to anyone and members get a 10% discount for the duration (12 months). Yes, I'm a member and it paid for itself within weeks ;)
