Well known amongst locals, tourists and members of the goth community who generally frequent the town throughout the year but particularly in late April and late October during the fantastic Goth Weekends as THE only fish and chip shop in Whitby to fry purely in vegetable oil. They also fry meat and non meat items separately unlike some chippies I know. We've been coming here for years, the chips are fabulous and they also do battered vegan sausages but I am yet to try these. I think I will rectify this misdemeanour very soon. I'm drooling at the prospect already. I always make sure I get a packet of chips from here drizzled in vinegar and spattered with a fair sprinkling of salt before partaking in a leisurely walk around town. We don't deep fry or use salt at home, so it's an acceptable vice I think. Obviously, there are meat products on display at the premises which may be disconcerting but I feel this is something which unfortunatley cannot be avoided particularly in a typical seaside English chippy.
