In smaller towns, vegetarian restaurants are always harder to find than in big towns. So when I found out that Fluunt vegan restaurant was practically next to my hotel, I was delighted. While finding places in Tokyo may require long searches and finding restaurants in obscure places, Fluunt Kofu is conveniently located in a big street in the shopping area. It's very close to the Dormy Inn hotel, next to a café with live music and opposite a parking lot. Easy to find, convenient to park a car. The restaurant is clean, welcoming and feels warm thanks to extensive use of wood. Yet, it doesn't have the alternative "hippie" atmosphere found in many other vegan restaurants. And... the menu is both in Japanese and English. It lists many burgers, but also more healthy dishes. When I was there, the owner excused himself because most of the menu was sold out for the day. Therefore the selection was limited and I ordered the gluten burger he recommended. The gluten burger isn't much special and doesn't come with any extras (like a salad on the side). But since most was sold out, I was ever so happy to be served at all. The burger was well made with good ingredients. It wasn't oily, over done or anything. Simple, yet well executed. In fact, so good that I recommend everyone to try Fluunt when in Kofu (or passing on the way to Nagano?) Fluunt also sells products. The next day I ate the instant vegan curry which was fine.
