  • VEGAN WAFFLES! Need I say more?

I went to Edinburgh for a 3 day trip and went here for a late lunch/snack on the second day. It's off one of the busy main streets so quite easy to find. When you walk in there is a giant fridge container with all the gelato, and can easily tell you which are vegan. Normally 5-6, including some sorbets. They make the vegan waffles on a separate waffle iron to the non-vegan waffles. You choose the vegan waffle base, and add whatever toppings, they have the vegan ones clearly listed, and choose some gelato (If you want. But why would you not?) I got vegan waffles, pecans, maple syrup and dark chocolate gelato, with a side tub of mango sorbet. The waffles were noticeably softer than the non-vegan (My mum got non-vegan waffles) but you couldn't careless once they were in your mouth. Soft and doughy, mine were super sweet from the maple syrup. I believe they use flaxseed as a egg replacement as the batter had little flecks in it that I assumed was flax. The gelato was creamy and super rich, I'm a dark chocolate lover so I was happy. The mango sorbet tasted like solero, which means it was delicious. It was more creamy and smooth not overly icy like most sorbets. It was fantastic to see a place like this (Small business) branching out into the vegan market. My mum and I really wanted to meet Epix, the shop dog, but she had gone home for the day, the lady behind the counter said she's only really there for the earlier part of the day, before it gets busy and too crowded for her.
