  • Great food and a great approach

A gem of a place in the 15th! I just discovered this very traditional French brasserie that also offers really good vegan dishes. The food is great, and there's quite a nice range of choices for a non-veg restaurant: there were four vegan main dishes to choose from on the day I went, including a burger with fries, samossas over risotto, stuffed zucchini with ratatouille and a lentil steak with fries. There were also some amazing vegan desserts, including a fantastic lemon meringue pie (with aquafaba meringue) and an enormous black forest cake. But these may not be available all the time; we requested them in advance because we were a large group (15 people). I would call ahead to check on the dessert situation if you want those particular ones, but there should be other vegan desserts on a regular basis. The restaurant's vegan wines and beers are clearly indicated, and you can also get a really nice lemony house-made kombucha. As the chef himself is vegan, he wanted to introduce the brasserie's regular customers to vegan food. These dishes are listed on the regular chalkboard menu, but also on a separate menu by themselves for those who are looking for vegan options only. The chef told us that very often, non-veg customers end up trying the vegan dishes out of curiosity. And loving them! For that reason, I see the fact that the restaurant also serves animal products as kind of a plus rather than a drawback, because it brings a chance to learn about vegan food to people who might never have gone to a veg restaurant. It's also the perfect place to dine with a friend or family member who doesn't want to go to a vegetarian or vegan place. Oh, and the ambiance is quite nice... red walls, lamps, mirrors with ornate frames, making for a cozy setting. Outdoor café tables in nice weather. Highly recommended!
