- Great Place
We were staying in Tanjung Bungah for 9 nights and needed a vegan friendly place in walking distance to go to for lunch every day. The excellent nearby Permai Village Cafe had recently closed after 6 years, and so we were excited to see that this new vegan friendly place had just opened up to take its place. Yi Ke Shu is vegetarian, however many menu items are either vegan or can be made vegan (the menu states to let the staff know if you don't consume dairy or eggs). It offers a selection of western options like pizzas, sandwiches, pockets, burgers, pastas, and pancakes, as well as more traditional Asian rice and noodle options. It was really great to see their delicious cakes marked as vegan (the blueberry cheesecake is a must!). The veggie soup is made from scratch without stock or starch (and seemingly no oil) and is an exceptionally good choice for the health conscious (and the silken tofu that comes in the soup is divine). They have brown rice too which was also great to see. We can also recommend the pumpkin sandwich. The Japanese mash potato is vegan and oil free and can be substituted for the french fries if you are health conscious. Overall, very nice environment and relaxing place, with lovely staff who speak enough English to help you veganize the menu.
