  • Didn't live up to the hype...

I didn't even finish my whole meal... anyone who knows me knows that's big. I had high hopes from a YouTube video that this place would be good but the overall experience just wasn't worth the time or effort. Saturday night at around 6:30 I arrived. First impression of the entire plaza of restaurants and the parking situation was that everyone seemed very much in a rush. This continued throughout the night I think. I was given a menu and a few minutes to peruse it before deciding on the Southern Dinner with the brisket, what I had originally come for. The dish came with two small slices of brisket, among a bunch of other sides that were really just small and lacking anything special. Fried pickles were 2/3 fried, beans was a very small amount in a very large cup, and i even got a side of buffalo sauce for my...actually, I still don't know what that was for. Maybe it's because i've never been to Texas and had a true southern dinner, but I was really only pleased with the brisket (great texture and good flavor) and the cornbread (crumbly and flavorful). I recalled that the avocado egg rolls were good, so in a last ditch effort I ordered them. Piping hot, and with a very very spicy dipping sauce, the rolls themselves were actually very good. Brisket dinner: 1/5 Spring rolls: 5/5 Service: 2/5 (or read any other review. you'd think with enough bad reviews relating to service that they would take a look at this. I know a few FOH managers that could turn this place around in a month.)
