- Great buffet, but gluten free vegan cake not so good
It´s nice to get to a vegan buffet now and then, because restaurant food portions in Ubud are often a bit small. Eating at Sawobali becomes cheaper than eg. ordering a starter and main course elsewhere. And the food in the buffet was fresh and they had also tofu and tempe + some kind of mock meat. Only on the lowest row of the cake shelf they have some vegan cakes, they are marked with "v". But I don´t think it´s good that the vegan cakes are also gluten free (these cakes are marked vgf = vegan gluten free). I had lemon cake and the cake bottom was what the gluten free cakes are at their worst = not spongy, light or fluffy, but instead a clump of moisture flour. All the other cakes looked like they had the same kind of bottom. But I hope all are not the same. At least on 22nd October 2016 they still had a couple of meat options on their menu, so it´s not completely vegetarian restaurant.
