  • Great veggie options at this chain restaurant

There are eight branches of Mariposa in Salvador and a few more dotted around the northeast of Brazil. I've been coming since my first visit to Salvador in 2008, and in that time have seen their vegetarian and vegan options expand to the point that they now even have vegan soy meat quesadillas complete with vegan soft cheese, which was quite excellent. On this trip I went four times in five days, and loved every visit. It started as a creperie, it now has far more options - at this branch, lunchtimes they have an excellent buffet where items are labelled green for vegan, blue for vegetarian, and red for non-vegetarian - the vast majority is vegan, you can also optionally pimp your buffet with two vegan burgers. Great juices too. I spoke to the manager about their vegetarian options, apparently one of the owners is vegetarian which is why they have such a decent selection.
