Set on Calle Berriozabal just a few steps from the intersection with Avenida Ferrocarril, Kaia Sharanam is a lovely boutique selling a variety of packaged natural and organic food items, natural health and beauty products, regional handicrafts, and other items that may be of interest to travelers and people interested in healthy lifestyles. There were brownies on display, which triggered my Pavlovian response: I asked if they were vegan. The shopkeeper said no, but then summoned me to the fridge and, with a mischievous smile, said, "Estos son veganos" ("These are vegan"). Sold. Yum. I also picked up some green clay to help with skin irritation i got from bites in the jungle below Machu Picchu. Nice to have such a place around. Do consider dropping by to support them.
