- Taunton doesn't know how lucky it is!
The Planet cafe is a one woman project by all accounts and full credit to her for getting it off the ground and going for almost a year now. It's not easy running a vegan cafe in the most wealthy and hip of places so doing so in a town where only multinational supermarkets and charity shops thrive has to be a challenge. Anyway get there early as the menu is liable to "run out" towards the end of the day. The menu changes often which is good. But have a Not Sausage Roll, one of the few to rival those of The Old Post Office Bakery that I've ever had. Don't expect loads of choices of tea or coffee this is a small enterprise but do enjoy the homemade cheese sauce, mayonnaise and cakes (maybe not all at the same time!) which other outlets often just buy in. Taunton is surrounded by beautiful country side plagued by fox hunting, so when you've had enough of laying false scents and blowing bugles to distract the hounds I'd recommend the many charity shops of Bridge St and North St interrupted by lunch at the Planet cafe. I'll be back there with or without the Sabs! Updated from previous review on 2016-12-24
