• East-African experience

“Im Herzen Afrikas” is an east-african restaurant that actually exists twice: One restaurant is in Frankfurt, the second and newer one in Mainz. The owners want their guests to experience a bit of their country of origin, not only by tasting the traditional meals, but also by sitting in larger groups (either on the ground or on large tables) , by eating with their hands instead of using cutlery, by the relaxed atmosphere… and I feel that they succeed in doing so! Visiting one of their restaurants is a great experience. The food is delicious. They have three vegan mains (lentils, potatos, spinach), and some other vegetarian ones. All are nicely spiced, and placed on mildly sour pancake-like Injera-bread. And you have to try their hummus as a starter! It is soooo delicious (but can be difficult to eat…). Also love their “Pembe” – homemade beer!
