- Small place, Small portions. Staff invited us to leave.
After reading the reviews on happycow, I decided to visit this restaurant during my stay in Madrid. I had the opportunity to visit Madrid many times before and almost all the experiences I've had there were very nice. This is not the case. The menu has not much variety, but at least everything is vegan. The question is what you get for what you pay. The portions are really small. From the hamburgers to the "to share/compartir" items. For example, I ordered "patatas com salsas" for 7Eur. They brought 10 slices of roasted potatoes to the table and they were already cold... In any corner in Madrid you find better than this. The hamburgers, I would classify them as nothing special... and again, small and a kind of undressed. 10Eur. I didn't see the menu before and I was expecting to have a bit more of Spanish vegan flavours, instead, they focus on hamburgers and hot dogs. Not the kind of experience I look for. But the biggest issue, the thing that really bored me, was that the staff brought the bill to the table without I have asked for it. They said they had reservations... but the place was actually empty and I didn't spot anyone around waiting... They essentially invited us to leave. Really unpleasant. Just to finish my review. I would not recommend this place. Food is average and it is not representative of the nice spanish flavours you may find in other vegan restaurants in the city. There are many other veg options in the neighborhood. Just avoid a bad experience not going to Distrito Vegano.
