I was so happy when I saw this location was opening downtown -- there's been an historical lack of Indian cuisine in downtown Houston. DGN Factory (the DGN stands for either the owner's initials or "dosas gone nuts") offers a variety of traditional and non-traditional dosas as their main offering, but there are also idlis, vadas, and other quick Indian food items on the menu. It is a counter-type setup located in a small food court in the tunnel level of First City Tower. Some familiarity with the downtown tunnel system would be helpful, but if you're an office worker here then you probably can find it okay. Everything on the menu is at least vegetarian, and the vegan items are labeled with a fancy V symbol. So how good is the food? Not a "10", but definitely good enough to keep me coming back about once every other week. Frankly, I've had better dosas, samosas, and vadas elsewhere, but the convenience and lack of competition makes me a repeat customer. And yes they're good! Don't get me wrong. Just not great. Their dosas and vadas (if not other items also) come with a spicy sambar soup and a slightly sweet coconut sauce. Like the main items, these sides/dips are satisfyingly good but not great. Also like another reviewer mentioned, their packaging is Styrofoam intensive, but that is true of most other downtown take-away food joints (sadly). I wish the city would ban it as San Francisco has recently done. Price-wise, I get a filling amount of food for an average price, so not a bargain and not a burden.
