- Delicious custom-made meal
China Garden looks like an ordinary Chinese restaurant from the outside, but it is worth giving it a chance. The owner, Christine, is vegetarian. She offered to cook us an authentic meal if we had an open mind and just let her choose some things for us. None of the things she cooked are on the menu, and everything was delicious! We ate scallion pancakes with homemade ginger sauce, green beans and tofu, and baby bok choy with egg plant. Usually, we have to drive to Portland for food this good. We have been other times when the owner is not there cooking, and the food is still good. Only the menu items are available, however, the staff are sensitive to vegans and vegetarians. They will usually ask if you are vegan or vegetarian and add extra tofu or make a menu item special in some way if you let them know your dietary preferences.
