  • Food not bad but the noise killed it

To say that the atmosphere was "lively" would be an understatement - it was an absolute madhouse, and it was just after 6 on a Thursday evening. The dining room is small and very cramped. The restaurant was full, everyone was chatting and cackling away, it was just too crazy. My partner and I had to literally yell across the table and still had a hard time hearing each other. It was that bad. The menu is kind of boring, but good thing what we ordered turned out pretty tasty. We had the tofu fritters to start with, then the ale pie and the Sri Lankan curry as main courses. They were all quite nice, even though the pastry in the ale pie had gone totally soggy and there probably wasn't anything "Sri Lankan" about the curry itself. Still, we enjoyed the flavors, so not a big deal there. We would've gotten the peanut butter brownie for dessert, but the increasingly "bustling" scene had simply become too much for us to bear. The central location is definitely a big redeeming quality. To me, this is more of a lunch than dinner place. In case you're inclined towards dinner, try to come early (like before 6) or be prepared to wait as they don't take reservations.
