  • Delish!

We were in Watertown this morning and stopped by Wild Rice for lunch. What a great place! We had the street food roll and the tempeh crab cakes. The roll was like a souped up falafel wrap. It had falafel, vegan raita, and delicious massaged kale. It also came with homemade chips. The chips weren't deep-fried and crispy like your typical potato chip; rather, they seemed to be pan-fried, and the result was something that was like a mix between potato chips and home fries. I really liked them. The tempeh crab cakes were served on a bed of Israeli couscous with two chutneys. The dish had a lot of great flavors and textures. In addition to the great food, the environment was also nice. It was pleasant to eat a well-made meal in a relaxed cafe atmosphere. Updated from previous review on Saturday January 16, 2016 We liked our lunch so much yesterday that we decided to come back early today for breakfast. We ordered the crepes suzette and the hash brown waffles. The crepes were on the thicker side, but they were still very good. The cointreau came through well to give the sauce a bit of complexity, and the whole wheat base was also a nice touch. The hash brown waffles were absolutely splendid. It sounded like a weird concept, but we took a chance. We certainly didn't regret it. The waffle shape gave it great crunch and texture, the potatoes, thyme, and caramelized onions combined really well, and the vegan cream topping brought it all together. It was really a magnificent dish.
