- Hipster place, but so delicious
After being located in Schanzenviertel in Hamburg they moved ten days ago to a new venue in Ottensen. The neighbourhood is quite quiet, there is not much going on, at least on a Sunday. It's obvious that they don't expect walk-in customers - considering the opening hours Alohacherie seems to be first and foremost a catering service and only secondly a restaurant. So I was there for lunch on Sunday (the first regular Sunday after they reopened). Do reserve, that's almost mandatory. The sophisticated decoration states at the very first glance how high-end this eatery is. There were two menus (starter, main, dessert) to choose from: Each dish reads pretty well. I was served highly creative dishes made out of very fresh produce that tasted amazing, all without exception! Allegedly they aspire to become the first vegan starred restaurant in the world - as far as I am concerned they are well on the way to that. Everything, food, quality, service was outstanding, maybe the locality wasn't that great, but that's the only small exception. Staff was most pleasant! They have free and good Wi-Fi. But the prices are - as you may have already figured - pretty fancy. The menu 1 was 38 Euro, menu 2 32 Euro, beverages excluded. I am not saying, it's don't worth it, but you have be able to afford it. That being said, I won't discount one cow for the prices, since it's clear that's a high-end restaurant. Would go again on a special occasion.
