- A vegan haven in seedy central Soho
Well that's a bit of an exaggeration but the Hippo is on the one corner of Rupert St that still boasts some of the Soho lowlife so beloved of films like Mona Lisa and TV series like Minder. And now that Maoz the falafel joint has gone it's a fine thing that Hippo has plugged a gap in central London,s vegan options. hippo is small and friendly with only a few options on offer as a main meal. They aimto be quick and they were, almost grab and go! I was dissapointed that the Pierogi option had sold out and I hope they develop their Polish vegan identity. Instead I had a jackfruit burger with Kale chips and a ready made fresh juice , all very nice - though as I sat outside - the chips were so light the wind blew some off my plate! It was entertaining to sit at their tables for 10 mins eating a tasty vegan snack and watch the colourful world of Soho go past, I shall do so again. Updated from previous review on 2016-08-07
