  • Love this place!

My parents and I went to Karma Waters several times during our stay in Hoi An. It's a simple, little place with quite a small menu, but the quality of the food is amazing and I love that they don't use MSG or sugar, which SO many veg places in Vietnam do to 'add flavour'. The food here is just so wholesome, natural and flavourful with all that added, unnecessary stuff! The vegan pho is the best vegan pho I've had so far in Vietnam (and I have tried quite a lot). The woman working there is such a joy - she has this lovely smile that lights up her face and she's always smiling :) She speaks good enough English so that she and my mom could talk about what was gluten-free on the menu or not (she pointed out which tofu was GF and which wasn't in certain dishes) and she even understood me when I asked for my pho without coriander (a rarity here in VN). Another time we went, I had the curry and dhal with Indian bread and it was absolutely delicious, so perfectly balanced and spiced. My parents also ordered me a cake for my birthday from Karma Waters and the lovely, smiling lady (wish I knew her name) made me a mouth watering vegan & GF, coconut cake with chocolate frosting and 'Happy Birthday' written on it :) It was really so special and the cake was superb - didn't leave us feeling heavy and lethargic; it felt 'decadent', yet it was actually very moist, light and delicious! I found it very interesting that Karma Waters also offers cooking classes and eco-friendly tours, which I would have loved to have done if I had been in Hoi An longer. Definitely recommend it!
