- Good, fresh, healthy food
With its emphasis on fresh and healthy cuisine, Veggie Bean offers a welcome change of pace from the oil-heavy menus of most other Samui restaurants. The small menu features salads, sandwiches, appetizers, and a few warm dishes, as well as good fresh juices. Our favorite was the wasabi-mushroom salad, which has plenty of good flavor. The other dishes we tried had simpler flavors, but still satisfying. Prices and portions were reasonable considering the quality (with the exception of the hummus appetizer, which was just a tiny bowl, gone in a few bites). We would've eaten here more often if the menu included more vegan options (there were just a handful, without much range). Perhaps in the future they might be able to expand their vegan offerings. Service was warm and helpful. The only issue was that, with only two people in the kitchen, they were sometimes overwhelmed when a few guests ordered around the same time. So, unless you're coming during off-peak hours, we suggest coming/phoning early and placing your order at least half an hour before you're likely to be feeling hunger pangs.
