  • Interesting place.

If you happen to be on Isola d'Elba and you're vegan you have almost no chance to have a decent meal. I personally had a terrible experience in a typical restaurant in Marina di Campo. They improvised a vegan first course but the result was miserable and the supposed grilled vegetables were practically burned. The bill at the end was unreasonably high.I thanked them for the effort and I said to myself " never again".Orti di Mare is a real oasis in the desert. This local Farm is situated in Lacona,South East of the island. They produce and sell organic certified vegetables and fruit. The restaurant is by the campsite in a pine wood in land not far from the sea. A very pleasant place to eat.The good and rare thing for the Elba Island is that they have a vegan and vegetarian choice on the Menù and on Sunday only a vegetarian/vegan set Menù. As a vegan I was fully satisfied.I started with a very tasty Tomatoe Bruschetta and an excellent fresch salad. As first course a very good savoury Vegan Tarte with spelt and curgettes followed by a generous portion of Fagioli all'Uccelletta ( type of beans). A typical toscanian dish, honestly the best I ever had. As dessert a well conceived Vegan Cake with dried fruit and oat flakes. At the end of the meal help yoursel to a healthy sage or melissa infusion. The quality of food is excellent and well cooked with a pleasant touch of creativity. The portions are generous and prices moderate. You won't be disappointed !
