- Wow... a veggie restaurant with an ocean view!
Note: As of April 2025 (and until further notice), they still have vegetarian lunch here, but they have suspended the use of the hot table and the salad bar. You used to be able to pick and choose what you wanted, but now only two main plates are offered and one or two types of salad (both are packaged in to-go containers but you can still eat in the dining room). Currently the main plates cost 12 soles and the prepackaged salads cost 5 soles. Original review: Do I dare call this the "holy grail" of vegetarian restaurants in Lima? This is a hospital cafeteria unlike any you have ever seen before. It's located on the 10th floor of the Clinica Good Hope which is run by the Seventh Day Adventists. The hospital is only about 2 blocks from the Pacific Ocean so the view from the 10th floor is quite nice. The dining room has modern comfortable furniture with plenty of tables, even during the lunch rush. The food is very high quality and reasonably priced. I went two days in a row and the food offered was completely different on both days. For about the same price as other vegetarian restaurants nearby you have a wonderful dining experience with great food and a great view (note that drinks and desserts are not included in the price, and you can expect to pay between 15-20 soles, depending on how much you put on your plate). This is self-service and you fill your own plate with food. As of April 2023 I would arrive there about 12:15 in the afternoon to eat lunch. At that point, all the food has been put on the salad bar and hot table and they don't restock it again. If you come at 1:30 in the afternoon the food has all been picked over and while you can still make a meal out of it you don't have as much choice. On Friday, they run out of food very early so you really have to arrive there by 12:00 noon. If you pay with a foreign credit card be sure to choose option 1 on the handheld credit card reader to pay in the local currency and avoid dynamic currency conversion, which they participate in. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Note: sometimes when you enter the lobby area the security guards will ask where you are going. If they do, just say "voy al décimo piso para comer." Then just walk a few more steps to the elevator and take it to the 10th floor. Updated from previous review on 2025-04-11
