  • You should try the beet burger

This place is not really that vegan friendly. They only have a couple of dishes and you must specify that you wan them in vegan form. North Star is known for its beet burger, which is very good, but does get old after awhile. The beet burger is made from rice and beets and is served on focaccia bread (if you ask for it "vegan") with mustard, onions, and greens. It comes with a side salad, but you can ask for another side dish if you wish. Recently they added a sandwich that you can get with baked tofu instead of animal and cold grain pilaf with nuts & fruit side dish to the menu and it is delicious! I am not sure if this is a permanent menu item or not, but I hope it stays. The home made ginger ale is really good and they now offer Boylan's natural soda fountain drinks. There is a problem with consistency sometimes. One day you get an excellent meal and the next time that same meal is pathetic in portion and flavor. This is a place I like to visit once in awhile, but not frequently because there is not enough variety. However, it is worth a try. I would give it at least two chances before you make your own judgment.
