  • Nice, but not spectacular

I am vegan, daughter vegetarian, husband omni - so this seemed like the perfect place. It had rave reviews, so off we went. The decor is lovely and the staff also very nice. They speak English too. There was a surprise appetiser of carrot puree and popped rice that was very interesting. For starter I had farro, peas and zucchini flowers. It was just like risotto but for me, I think it would have been better if the flowers were tempura, as they were raw and not very appealing. I love tempura zucchini flowers. My daughter had gazpacho with raw vegetable sticks that she said was amazing. We both had the potato flan which was disappointing. Basically mashed potatoes and herbs held together with a nice of aubergine. Beautiful presentation, but a bit boring. I think that vegan main dishes need to be balanced and include a protein component (legumes, tofu etc) to balance out the carbs. I felt like I was carb overloaded. Having said that, I had to try to try the aquafaba pavlova with pineapple, berry gelato and soy cream. It was fabulous. My daughter had the chocolate something and said it was pretty good too. I liked it but perhaps I ordered the wrong main in the flan. If you have omni family, husband said his meal was good.
