  • Almost vegan juice bar and cafe

I visited RAWR two days after it opened. It is proving very popular - not surprising given the lack of vegan and vegetarian cafes in Newcastle and The Potteries. I had the Falawesome sandwich - hummus, falafel, carrot and rocket, followed by a vegan cake. Very tasty and fresh. All the food is raw, and most is vegan. There is a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, cakes, juices and smoothies, plus coffee and tea. Despite the continuing flow of customers the service was prompt and friendly. RAWR is in Fogg Street, which runs between Ironmarket and Merrial Street. It is small, you sit at a shared table in the middle or at counters around the outside. Free wifi is available and they sell vegan cosmetics, teas and coffees. Let's hope they drop the cows' milk and butter and become 100% vegan.
