Halfway between Volcan and the Costa Rican border at Rio Sereno, the Mount Totumas lodge makes a good getaway from hot and noisy towns. There are reasonably priced rooms for rent in a renovated farmhouse or a new cabin on the property with well equipped communal kitchen, so guests can bring their own supplies. The owners Jeff and Alma grow herbs, veggies and coffee organically and generate their own hydro power. Guests are welcome to pick culinary herbs, buy wine or beer, or have meals or stay at the lodge, which has gorgeous suites and views. Fresh baked bread , muffins, delicious international cuisine is prepared and served by Alma--reservations & a 4X4 vehicle are necessary, pick up from Volcan can be arranged
