Vegan choices in Augusta are pretty limited so I decided to try Curry Hut. Although the menu is full of vegetarian options, it was hard to find any vegan dishes. I asked the waitress for help and she waved her hand over one section of the menu. I ended up ordering Dal Makhani, which it turns out is supposed to be black lentils cooked in cream and butter. The description on the menu gives no clue and the waitress didn’t warn me. Perhaps the only saving grace was that I can’t believe there was any butter in that dish. It tasted like nothing — some watery gruel from a Dickensian prison scene. The lentils had lost all texture and there weren’t many of them. It was literally more like lentil broth. I didn’t eat it and the waitress asked if it was too spicy. In fact it had no spice at all. Maybe the worst thing I’ve ever been served in a restaurant.
