- Still my favourite vegan restaurant in the world
Usually a reservation is needed, although a small table or two may be available to walk-ins, and there a few tables outside. The menu has starters, soups, salads, mains ( €8.20-12.90) and desserts, and some gluten-free and wheat-free options. Local beers and ciders, organic wines, including a rhubarb sparkling wine (€4.90 a glass). First visit this trip, I had the orange-flavoured tempeh with brown basmati rice, coconut-peanut sauce and fennel salad, €8.20 - what a delicious flavour! My companion on another visit ordered the same dish, and it looked different (a different chef was on duty), with chunks rather than strips of tempeh and a thin slice of grilled aubergine. My other omnivore companion raved about the burger. I had the very tasty pasta shells stuffed with tofu and spinach, in a delicious white wine sauce. We appreciated the flavours and textures of the seafood plate too - well done! And the strawberry ice cream was a lovely end to the meal. On my final visit, I had the house-made iced tea; beet ravioli with cashew cheese starter (thinly sliced yellow beet); their complimentary, homemade, delicious black bread; the jackfruit-beet-chickpea balls with potatoes, smoky onion cream and herb hummus (dill, tarragon and others) and a Snickers-style cake to take away. What a meal! Love this place. I’ve been saying for years that V is my favourite restaurant in the world, and it didn’t disappoint this trip either. Opens at 12 noon every day. Menu items change regularly. Remember to make a reservation! Updated from previous review on 2019-07-13
