- An expected and pleasant surprise in a lovely town
I found out about this place thanks to my Chinese friend who spotted the sign reading "vegetarian food". All credit to her. We were pleasantly surprised. Food is tasty, extremely cheap...but very spicy (although I personally like it). No English spoken, but you can always point at the other diners' bowls. Various noodle dishes from CNY3 to CNY5 (less than a dollar), as well as delicious grilled tofu (a great local specialty at only CNY0.40 a piece) and grilled potatoes. As you can see on the attached photos, it is a very local and simple place. Do not expect 5-star dining...Not sure about it, but the kitchen MAY serve meat, although we never saw anyone having meat the 4 times we had lunch there. Open all day but closes around 6pm. Expect amused and surprised locals if you're a Westerner. People allergic to peanuts may want to eat elsewhere.
