- Lots of Veg choices
Location: near Via España , the busy shopping street, across from the Royal Casino & walking distance from many downtown hotels in El Cangrejo district Food and ambiance: Beirut has a spacious outdoor patio and two indoor dining rooms, and a menu with many Middle Eastern veg options: fattoush salad, babaganoush , hummus, lentil soup, pita pizza, felafel, & combination platter of veg appetizers. Some familiar dishes include dairy, but others are purely vegan. Service is quick, and beer, wine, soft drinks are available. I liked the complimentary glasses of strong mint tea that ended our meal. The veggie combination platter called "Beirut" is big enough to share, and soups and salads make it a reasonably varied lunch or dinner option for vegetarians and vegans in this city with few veg-friendly restaurants.
