- A special place
Having recently had to drastically change my diet due to illness I thought it would be impossible to find a restaurant where I could enjoy a meal for my birthday which would be able to work around my many dietary requirements. Then I stumbled across Maitreya Social. Not only do they offer several vegan options but all of those options on that day also happened to be gluten free, result! Not knowing what to choose me and my friend started with a bowl of olives whilst we debated. All of the dishes sounded delicious and rather unique in both their description and flavour combinations. Finally we managed to decide, my friend opting for that evenings spicy dish and I a tomato and artichoke number. When the dishes arrived I was overwhelmed by how much love and care had gone in to the presentation. Both dishes were define, my friend being an avid spice lover and normally disappointed by the lack of heat in dishes in restaurants finally met his match in the dish he had chosen and devoured it! There is a wonderful vibe in this restaurant with quite possibly the nicest waiter that I have ever come across, nothing was too much for him and he went above and beyond regarding my dietary issues. I was also very pleasantly surprised once the bill came, 4 drinks, a starter, two mains and a dessert for £40. Other people in the restaurant were also commenting how amazing their food was, everyone seemed high on food love! I just wish I lived closer to Bristol!
