  • a True Thai Discovery!

Our tour of vegan - vegetarian eateries in the chiang mai area had been "ho-hum" until we came upon Happy Green, a short/cheap taxi ride out of the city hustle/bustle. beautifully located overlooking the mae ping river, across from a pagoda, the ambience of the restaurant is notable, and testament to the caring/compassionate thai family behind Happy Green. very rustic, and built of recycled wood in thai farmhouse style. this is not a fast food in/out style, rather, a place to hang out for a morning or afternoon hour or so, (they close late afternoon). the ingredients are organic/local and fresh, either from their on-site garden or family farm. the food is simple, tasty, plentiful and healthful (fairly priced too.) yes, the service is on the calmer side, but hey, if you want zip-zip in/out, then don't come to thailand. (they have a mini-food market there too, where you can get assorted organic fruit, veg, rice, coconuts, coco water by the giant bag too!) so in summary, let go of the stress and immerse yourself in the Happy Green experience:>)...and if you really want a link to the busy world, they do have electrical outlets/wifi throughout...
