  • The best veg restaurant in Madrid

In the last couple of weeks I've been twice to El Rayén Vegano for lunch. Once on a weekday and the other time on the weekend. During the week they offer the menú del día (which changes daily) and it includes water (I usually order it infused with cardamom), an entree, a main dish and a dessert. And on weekends it's a la carta, a menu from where to pick. Every time I go there I leave feeling happy I went. The menú del día is always super tasty, elaborate and creative, plus the food is of great quality, you can definitely tell. The desserts are amazing! They keep changing and they never dissapoint. The last ones I've tried were an orange raw vegan cake, a coconut muffin and two different types of brownies, one with mocca on top. Delicious. The cons: it's on the expensive side, especially on weekends. And the portion size is not huge. The rest is all good: the food is excellent, the owners and servers are really nice; although the place is small (better call before or else you may not find a free table), it's nicely decorated, unlike many other vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Madrid.
