- Buffet and Sichuan hotpot
We were there for dinner. There are two options - a hotpot (43 yuan per person) or buffet (28 yuan per person). My husband took hotpot and me - buffet, to compare. The buffet was good, lots of dishes to choose from including salads, soups, main dishes with side rice or noodles, and sweets (cake and cookies). Great value for money. The taste was good, but for me personally a bit too oily and too many green and red peppers. I know it's Sichuanese style, but we also tried buffet at Wenshu temple here in Chengdu and the taste was more balanced. The hotpot has a huge variety of ingredients to choose from, but I thought it would be nice to be guided how to make it - locals know better what to put and in what proportion. Again, the stock was not so much hot as too oily for us. The location is good, on a busy pedestrian street in the very centre. The staff is nice and friendly, even though they had hardly any English they made a real effort to communicate.
