  • good food but crowded

I've been to Potager du Marais several times and always been reasonably satisfied with the food, but the restaurant is small and always crowded. You will be jammed in close to the next table - not pleasant if you value your personal space, but I guess it is typical of French restaurants and some (like my wife) find it charming. I find it claustrophobic. The service is hit or miss - they have at least one really nice, really charming waiter, but he was on vacation last time we visited and the other waitstaff weren't as good. It also can take a long time to place an order or get your food. It would be wise to make a reservation. If you go, try the French onion soup - it's the best I've had anywhere.
