- What a lovely place!
This vegan hotel/b&b is located in the midst of the Harz mountains, above a dammed lake, close to the forest. The owners, Björn and Nina, opened it in winter 2012. It is possible to reach Schulenberg by train and bus, the next bigger city is Goslar. If no buses run or you want to spare yourself the changes you can call ahead and ask if somebody can pick you up for a small additional fee. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, the rooms are clean and not too small. The room furniture is conservative and not too inspiring, but probably will be replaced as time goes by and the hotel evolves. The dining area is nice, and the garden hosts a huge trampoline (large enough for adults :). If the weather doesn't allow for hiking or swimming in the lake, there is a sauna (extra 5€, if I remember correctly) and many games - and even if you're alone you probably find somebody to play with. The place is very child-friendly and affordable. Breakfast is included, and dinner can be arranged, too. If you hang out around the house during the day you may be able to catch "Eiskaffee" (coffee with vanilla icecream!) or cake during the day. We love to be there!
