  • Warm welcome to weary travellers

The best thing about Cafe Chai Dee is the amazing owner, Koichi, also known affectionately as Moto San to his customers. Koichi strives to make you feel welcome in Savannakhet, not just with his food but also with his warm personality and friendliness.... which is like manna from heaven for lonely and isolated travelers and NGO workers in Savan. His food is good, heart warming, solid comfort food. He has a wide range of dishes but his best ones are the Japanese ones. Theres some curries, with and without meat, a very yummy pesto served with pasta but also in sandwiches. My favourite is probably the excellent vege patty sandwich. Appetisers include sushi and samosas. Drinks are excellent. Theres a wide range of fruit juices, lassi and hot/cold coffee/tea. The coffee is western style with milk rather than with sweetened condensed milk. As a bonus, theres a small library of books, a good collection of local travel guides... and the best bit.... if Koichi is free, he will come and chat with you himself. Which is a real bonus, as he's such a nice guy.
