  • Good fast food option

Garbanzo's is a good option for vegan fast food. The setup is kind of like Subway or Chipotle where you select your dish and walk down the line picking out your toppings and sauces. You basically get three (two vegan) ways to order: laffa (wrap), plate, or pita (not vegan). Vegans have two "protein" options, the falafel or the hummus and salad to choose from. I was very disappointed to find out that the portobello option is not even vegetarian - I'm guessing they grill them alongside or in the juice of the meat they cook - nasty! However, I really liked how all the veggie toppings are separated from the dairy/meat items as you go down the line selecting your toppings, and then anything that costs extra is clearly marked. Other than the wide variety of vegetable toppings, it's awesome that they have several vegan sauce options, such as hummus, tahini, cilantro sauce, red chili pepper sauce. The tahini and the cilantro sauce were both excellent (in fact all the sauces are vegan except for the tzaziki, which is vegetarian). They also had vegan soups and sides, such as chickpea stew and dolmas. The other really nice part of the restaurant is that they clearly mark vegan items at the counter and have a complete ingredients list online, so you don't have to ask about anything. The plate and soups normally come with pita, but they gladly substituted laffa for the pita on request. Updated from previous review on Sunday February 03, 2013
