- Worth going out of your way for
We had lunch at Yesil Ev a couple of days ago and I think it has been the nicest food we've tried in Istanbul so far. It is on about the four floor of the building and there is not much signage apart from a sign on the street but keep going up the stairs until you get to the level with a sign and doorbell - it is worth it. There is a small sunny room up the top, the menu is spoken, we had a soup starter and a mixed veggie plate each (20 lira) which had about five different hot and cold dishes such as lentil stew, potatoes, salad, artichokes, bulghur, carrots with yogurt - some of the same dishes I had tried in other restaurants and some new ones, all seemed typical turkish but EXTREMELY DELICIOUS.
