  • Terrific Terryaki Tofu Burgers!

Run by a very sweet Thai and Japanese vegan couple, themed on a kind-of American homestead (think dressers, quilts, matching non-matching tablecloths, old furniture). Running and health food turns out to be a secondary theme so we find vegan running clubs meet here, pictures of vegan sports people who have visited (well, a snooker player, anyway) and several raw food dishes on the menu. A little alarmed by the clean living vibe, we ordered and discovered food that was fit for fat slow-moving vegans too, hoorah! Vegan garlic bread was a great starter, the mini-pizza platter was good (though larger options would be nice). The star of the show was definitely the terryaki tofu burger which was thoroughly gorgeous and seemed to match the fusion of influences behind the cafe itself. The burger comes on a platter with salad and crisps but you could change to fries as these are elsewhere on the menu. A raw chocolate "mousse" dessert finished the meal beautifully with a caramel soya latte. The enthusiasm of the owners is contagious and makes eating at this quirky place really memorable.
