  • great setting, few vegan options

Snap Cafe is in the back of a small courtyard containing a number of expat-oriented shops. The Cafe has several seating areas, including outdoor picnic tables and indoor couches. It's very cozy. There's a very big bookshelf for those who like to read while dining. A large section of the cafe is an outdoor play area for kids, with things to climb on and a sandbox. There are only a few things on the menu that're vegetarian and might be vegan, and the menu doesn't do a good job of making it clear whether or not those few items are vegan. The wait staff weren't sure if items I asked about were vegan. At least one of the chefs is a native English speaker, and talking directly with him made it possible for me to confirm that the vegetarian sausages are vegan, and french fries and a salad can be substituted for the non-vegan mashed potatoes and coleslaw that normally accompany the sausages. The sausages were tasty. I found it a little hard to figure out where to sit that wouldn't put me downwind of cigarette smoke. It seems you can smoke anywhere at Snap Cafe, and I found the smoke unpleasant.
