What a wonderful find! Five minutes from the beach in New Buffalo. Kayak rentals across the street. Small grocery store with fresh fruit, organic and veg*n selections next door. If you are vegetarian, you will do well here. And though vegan options are more limited, I've found this to be the most veg-friendly eatery in the New Buffalo/Union Pier area. The menu has vegetarian items specially marked. I've been here several times now and each time they have at least 6 soups ALL of which are vegetarian. They don't use the word "vegan" but instead mark the non-vegan soups with a "C" for "contains cream". Wide selection of teas, coffees and desserts. Gelato bar that offers (nearly vegan) sorbetto. Serve Starbucks coffee. BREAKFASTS- For vegetarians, the breakfasts include buttermilk pancakes and waffles that you can get with blueberries, strawberries, sun dried cherries, pecans, bananas. Design-your-own omelettes with a great selection of veggies and cheeses. Huevos Rancheros, the Veggie Scrambler, the Veggie Bagel, sweet cheese & strawberries crepe, spinach mushroom quiche. For vegans, you're looking at the fruit plate, oven-roasted potatoes with rosemary, oatmeal or granola. LUNCH & DINNER - Veggie sandwiches, Veggie Burger (contains dairy), many veggie soups, salads and pastas, create-your-own vegan sandwich. As for the rating, I'm torn between 3 and 4 cows. It's the kind of place that would get 3 City Cows but 4 Rural Cows. I wish they would offer more vegan fare - at least a tempeh, lettuce & tomato sandwich. On the other hand, this is the most veg-friendly eatery in a 20 mile radius, so I'll go with 4 cows for now. update: they have a Portabello Mushroom Burger with lettuce, tomato, onion & honey mustard Updated from previous review on Thursday August 04, 2011
