  • A bit disappointing

This is the second-smallest Whole Foods I have ever seen, and as such, selection seems to be a bit limited - i.e. for some reason, this store does not seem to stock regular, Chinese-style tofu - only silken or sprouted. Do note that the staff at this location are *not* well-educated about vegan diets or about food allergies. (To give just one example, I asked an employee in the bakery department about vegan bread options. She tried to sell me gluten-free bread that had honey and eggs in it!) Be sure to read labels VERY carefully in the frozen foods aisle - in this particular store, I've never *not* seen meat/fish items in the section marked "Vegetarian/Vegan." During every single visit, I've seen several non-veg frozen entrees stocked in the "Vegetarian/Vegan" section (and since there are multiples of the same items neatly stocked in the wrong section, it's clearly not a case of an uninformed customer putting something back on the wrong shelf). I politely complained about it once (it would be very, very easy for an unsuspecting veg*n to trust the signage and pick up a meat entree by mistake) but received only a blank stare. If you are able to go to the Del Mar store instead, it's much better. They know what "vegan" means!
