  • Treat people well...serve them amazing food.

This is the slogan on the kitchen door at Funmi's. And, we both felt, on the Saturday night we went, that we were fed well. I haven't had plantain that was prepared as well as at Funmi's. Very lightly fried, and perfectly ripe, with the Mrs. C special it was just everything you would want for a home cooked meal. The African brown beans were hearty, a nice combo with the kale stew. it was surprising how the food is so outstanding, yet the atmosphere is so similar to any ethnic you takey/carry-out place. TVs showing music videos, can't-remember-what-they looked-like tables, mass produced art on the walls. Really? Nigerian cooking with all those wonderful spices, textures and flavors would seem to inspire much more. Also,it's a bit hard to find this place as it is tucked behind the other stores that face Bardstown in the strip.
