  • Decent dining

We had high hopes coming here, having read other Happy Cow reviews recommending this restaurant highly, but ended up quite disappointed. We had the 5-course menu. Our over all impression was that this restaurant tried hard to be "fine dining" but didn't reach all the way. Putting a bunch of small courses together in a fancy way doesn't make it fine unless they're actually well cooked, and some of them just weren't. The main course was too messy, so many things we're going on there and they didn't really go all that well together. Flavours were nothing out of the ordinary, and some dishes were not cooked well, for example lentils and some vegetables were not cooked soft (note: not just "al dente" but actually not done). potato roullade was over-whipped and hence had a glue-like texture, the deep fried lentil ball was too "starchy". All in all, the food was decent and would have been ok at a basic restaurant but since Lucky Leek has the ambition to be a fine dining place it was disappointing. About the service, it was ok - one of the waiters was very nice and helpful but the other seemed bothered by our presence even though the restaurant was not very busy that night. He only barely presented the food and answered questions very briefly.
