- Pleasant art centre cafe with some vegan options
The cafe has a great setting, pleasant tables inside and several tables in the pretty back garden. They were happy for our dog to sit with us in either space, even though that means coming through the building to get there. There was a dog bowl out in the garden for him. None of their dishes were made specifically vegan or marked up but several could easily be adapted to be ok. Staff knew what was in things so were able to help with this though I was surprised a veggie place hadn't marked up vegan options or created some vegan dishes. It's very typical veggie cafe food - morrocan tagine with couscous, or falafel and pitta, all served with salad. The portions were quite generous (particularly the tagine) and the food was tasty. Their only vegan cake was a carrot and nut effort that they keep on standby in the freezer in case of awkward people demanding "special" food "it's vegan, gluten free and everything". We didn't try it. If a cake can't hold its own in competition with the other cakes on display at the counter I'm a bit suspicious! Updated from previous review on Friday September 13, 2013
